Mathematical specification of hitomezashi designs

چکیده

Two mathematical aspects of the centuries-old Japanese sashiko stitching form hitomezashi are discussed: encoding designs using words from a binary alphabet, and duality. Traditional analysed these two ideas. Self-dual related to Fibonacci snowflakes, which we term Pell persimmon polyomino patterns, proposed. Both used generate them appear be new their respective literatures.

Profiling Specification PEARL Designs

An approach to holistic system modelling is presented, based on the Specification PEARL hardware/software co-design methodology, having its origin in the standard Multiprocessor PEARL specification language. Specification PEARL specifications and models represent prototypes of systems and programs, based on the PEARL program model. The system models built are checked for timely execution by co-...

High-Level Specification of Runtime Reconfigurable Designs

”C to Gates” compilers for FPGAs have been a topic of investigation for nearly two decades. Some of these endeavors have reached a point of viability. Impulse C, for example, enables an application developer to describe hardware using a large subset of standard C. While the Impulse C simulation and implementation tools provide an excellent high-level development environment for FPGA application...

Specification of dependency areas in UML designs

A concept of dependency areas can help in tracing an impact of artifacts of a project (requirements, elements of the UML design, extracts of the code) and assist in their evolution. The dependency area of an element of a UML design is a part of the design that is highly influenced by the given initial element. Dependency areas are identified using sets of propagation rules and strategies. Selec...

Mathematical Experiments with African Sona Designs

The sona designs of the Chokwe people of Angola/Congo are a particularly attractive form of “mirror curves,” which can be visualized as a curve drawn through a lattice of dots, bouncing off the edges of the lattice and off “mirrors” placed between some of those dots. Most such designs are drawn as a single, uninterrupted line, and most contain symmetries of some type. The mathematics of the des...
